I'm at a loss to explain which step was the magical one. msi files in the windows/Installer folderĦ) Changed my default OS to Windows 7 in the wine configħ) Removed any existing overrides in the Libraries part of the wine configurationĨ) Ran the Sketchup installer again and still could not uninstall it, so I clicked 'Repair' I have no idea how - but here is what I did:ġ) Screwed around with winetricks installing various VC runtimes (no luck) eventually hosing my wine installationģ) Install wine 1.3 (sudo apt-get install wine1.3) - Sketchup still did not startĤ) Tried many times to uninstall Sketchup, all of which failedĥ) Ultimately deleted all registry keys, all Google folders, and all cached.

That didn't work for me, but I eventually got it working.
